Online gambling is the newest contribution to America’s debt indiscretions. Now websites make it even more accessible to gamble online, from online slots to tournament blackjack. With these new outlets, chronic gamblers are finding it harder to stay away from the computer. The Internet creates a new isolation for online gamblers, and poses a serious threat to your self-awareness and judgment.

Since online gambling offers the convenience of never leaving your home it’s easier to hide a gambling addiction. You can loose yourself for hours in front of a computer, which can have drastic effects on your relationships with others. Another issue with online gambling is that you don’t feel the impact if you lose money right away. You don’t have chips in front of you to keep track of. Now all you have is a number in the corner of your screen to contend with. With this lack of hands on involvement, it’s getting easier to continue clicking the mouse to place a higher bid. However most gambling websites do not allow the use of credit cards, and credit companies do not allow you to use your credit card on gambling either. With this positive step that credit card companies have taken, American’s will gain a better handle on their gambling debt, by not being able to use debt to pay off deb.

With most online gambling casinos you can’t even withdrawal your winnings unless its over a specified amount which is usually around $50. By doing this they keep you hooked and you’ll find it easy to continue placing bets because the money is already in the account. Online gambling is no only restricted to casinos and slots, but tremendous amount of sports betting takes place online. The Internet has now made it so that you don’t even have to call up a bookie and place your bet; you can simply login and start betting.

Although gambling is becoming a more recognized sport in the industry, especially when there is televised celebrity poker and other tournaments, it is still a dangerous sport. It’s understandable that in retrospect every sport is dangerous. The key is to know how to play and to play well. As with all sports you have to take the proper precaution before you play, make sure you know the rules, and have the right equipment. In online gambling the right equipment is a clear head, a complete understanding of your financial situation, and you have to be willing to lose.

All too often people fall victim to gambling addictions. You have that one great win, but after that you might lose continuously, and the next thing you know your down hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars. By no means is online gambling a safe sport, it comes with it’s own set of responsibilities. Being aware of the risks involved and making sure your priorities are straight is one way to gain control over gambling before you start a problem. Having an addiction is losing control over your own free will, and that is something no American wants.

Yay, what a life would that be - sitting behind the fancy slot machine, hitting buttons, sipping Bud Light and constantly cashing out big bucks, or coins. Sure, we know that casinos (even online casinos, yes) take their ″edge″ and earn hideous profits, but we don’t think about it when we step into a local casino or log on to our favourite online casino.

There’s always a constant battle between ″us″ (the players) and ″them″ (casino) and most of the time we’re pretty equal, until the slot machine suddenly turns into a money-leeching demon and starts eating our cash. So, after losing again, you ended up reading this article that has a title which gives you some hope.

Not that I want to sound rude, but reconsider because you won’t win your money back. Every bet you make equals giving your money away. Actually, there’s only one way to gain a profit visiting a casino - that’s when you sign up for a casino’s club card and go visit the place once in a while. You won’t play but always claim your ″Club Member Bonus″ free drink. After drinking it you should leave the place, but knowing you guys, that almost never happens.

For people who still believe that they can win with slot machines, I have listed some myths and rumors that aren’t true. Believing in them brings you debts and misery.

Some people believe that a poorly paying slot machine is about to hit big, maybe even a jackpot, so it would be smart to keep on playing or even raise the bets::

Well, actually there’s no difference if the machine has been paying poorly for a long time or not, because each spin is unique and totally random (IF, that is, you’re playing at least Casino Control Commission or a GamblingRalf approved casino and the machine uses well-known software). There’s different situations in land based casinos, because even if they claim that slot machines payout percentage is fixed and constant, it still happens sometimes. The payout percentage has been lowered to nonexistent and you can keep on playing and losing forever. There’s also no such thing as ″feeding the slot machine″ (this equals losing your money in order to win it back later) or ″milking it″.

Talking on a cell phone when gambling drives high tech slot machines crazy and helps to win big…or not! Actually some cell phones damage digital slot machines (especially before GSM coverage, when NMT was a superhit), but I haven’t heard any stories of players being able to cheat the casino with this trick and withdraw the money.

I know a few players who have had sudden $100,000 on their bankroll and weren’t paid, because the computer chip made a mistake (probably caused by cell phone). Every bet and win has to be proved by a slot machine’s previous winnings history, which is saved and constantly checked.

::Temperature of the coins affect slot machines and payout rates. Hot coin means more money!::

Another twisted fairytale. If you’re already so credulous, don’t visit casinos at all - you will gamble your brains off like that and go home crying. Computer chips have a RNG chip (Random Number Generator) that isn’t affected by anything, even not by the coin you have stored and heated up between your buns.

We could continue this list, but I’d rather not do it because it all comes down to one thing - in the long run there’s no way you can beat the slot machine and steal its edge. If winning was easy, there would be no casinos. There’s no simple ″How to Beat Slot Machine″ tactic, only some simple rules that should be followed to keep your losings as low as possible.

They may not look like one, but they certainly represent money. They may seem like good old plastic chips designed to be used as toys for children, but they really worth millions.

That is what poker chips are all about. They may appear synthetic or even look dazzling with the different colors, but the main idea of the item is that they are actually money.

In a casino, these brightly colored chips are actually illustrative representation of money, each having its own distinctive amount.

Generally, poker chips are constructed with complex "edge spot patterns" and diagrammatic illustrations so that they will be difficult to forged or imitate. The exact procedure in making these checks, other name of poker chips, is an absolute "trade secret." Besides, it uses relatively expensive machines.

In the U.S., the most common colors used in poker chips are white, pink, red, blue, green, black, and purple. Each color represents a particular denomination. For instance, purple represents the highest denomination in the world of casinos, $500. However, there are some casinos like in Las Vegas, has larger denominations, $1,000, and this is represented by the yellow or the orange-colored chips. They also have higher denomination like $5,000 up to $25,000 but the colors for these chips may vary from time to time.

How to Buy Chips

Poker chips had revolutionized from the time it was first manufactured. Before, poker chips are made of clay materials. It was during the 60s and the 70s that the brittle chips were used.

Today, poker chips are made of different quality materials intended to be used for a longer time. These chips now have various kinds and colors. Hence, it is important to know the buying tips in choosing poker chips so that you only get the best.

Here's how:

1. Decide on the kind of material chips you want to buy

If you are not so much after the kind of quality most of the casinos have, then it is best that you get the lightweight plastics. They are actually available at your local "big box store." The best thing about these kinds of poker chips is that they are cheaper and they are also durable.

2. Contemplate on the design

Poker chip designs may vary depending on the color used. There are poker chips that are solid in color. There are those that have 2 to 3 colors. There are also poker chips that have designs on them.

Whatever design you choose, it is important to know that these poker chips should last as long as you want them.

3. The number of chips that you should buy

If you are considering to buy poker chips, you can either choose whether you would buy 500 chips or the 300. There are also sets of 1,000. If you want more customized numbers, you can buy sets of 200, 650, 400, and 700.

The number of chips that you should buy will depend on the kind of poker you will play. For instance, if you will play Texas Hold 'Em Poker with more than 7 players, it is best that you buy sets of 500 chips.

The idea here is that 1 player should have a minimum of 35 poker chips and a maximum of 100 for better games.

So now you know what to look for when buying poker chips. It is relatively easy to shop for more if you wish to upgrade the number of chips that you have. Just keep in mind that as your players increase, it is best that you have more poker chips than the usual.

Lem Banker was full of holiday spirit on Wednesday, though make no mistake about it: he wasn’t dipping into the egg nog.

An occasional glass of wine at dinner, OK, but booze really doesn’t fit into this octogenarian’s routine.

Many people still view Banker as the world’s best living sports handicapper, despite the rise of young computer whizzes who have failed to drive him out of the business.

″My numbers are strange compared to others,″ he said.

″But they still work.″

A quick call — Lem gives his home number to cocktail waitresses, his garbagemen and favored writers, but not ″casino idiots″ — to inquire about Thursday night’s Las Vegas Bowl turned into a rather lengthy conversation, with Banker ascending his soap box to espouse views on myriad subjects

Depending on his mood, they might range from animal rights (fellow gamblers joke that Lem never met a dog he didn’t like) to politics (a true-blue Democrat, he can rant about Gee Dubya all day, given the chance) and ″casino jerks″ (whom, he argued, resemble Scrooge a lot more than Santa Claus).

Banker likes Oregon plus a field goal in the Las Vegas Bowl, which has caused excitement this year with its Ducks-BYU match-up.

Las Vegas is full of Mormon residents and graduates of LDS-affiliated BYU who aren’t above plunking down a few bucks on the ol’ alma mater.

The Cougars opened as 4-point favorites, but the pointspread had fallen to minus 3 on Wednesday as bettors rode the dog.

″It’s just a so-so play, nothing super,″ Banker said.

″My number was 1, so I like it at 3 as much as I did at 4.

″Why do I like Oregon?

″They won a pie-eating contest between the two teams and Donald’s three nephews — Huey, Duey and Louey — play for the Ducks.

″I’ll bet $2 on plus 3 and $1 on the money line.

″Get my drift?

″I bet all my games on the money line.

″Really.″

Asked about the total, Banker could be heard punching numbers into a calculator like those he has used for years.

″My number is 54 and the books have it 62, so it’s much too high,″ he said.

″Go under.

″In fact, I’m going to bet it myself.″

His top NFL play this week is Houston, which is getting 9 at home from AFC South Division champion Indianapolis.

″I like the game at 10 too,″ he said.

″The Colts will be looking for home-field advantage in the playoffs, but I think emotion is with the Texans.″

Banker believes NFC North Division champ Chicago should be laying a bigger number at Detroit.

″My numbers say 7.07 and they’ve got it 4,″ he observed.

″Numbers are going to be shaded because a lot of these clubs that already have made the playoffs won’t be putting their best feet forward, won’t be playing hard because they don’t want anyone to get hurt.

″If these guys can’t play it straight with the numbers, though, they’re not going to get any bets from me.″

Banker cautions players to be careful betting the league this week.

″The lines are tough,″ he said.

″Lines all come from Costa Rica and offshore these days and they’re all the same.

″It’s becoming increasingly hard to bet in this town when you have to lay 11/10 and you can get $1.04 or $1.05 down South.

″These morons don’t want people betting on the Internet because they want everything for themselves.

″It’s not enough that they have all the suckers who play slots, blackjack, video poker and whatever else.

″They want to stick it to the honest sports gambler too.″

Honesty and integrity are big deals to Banker, who settled in Sin City a half-century ago when young Rat Packers (and the Mafia) ruled the Strip and comps flowed freely.

″I’ve spent a lifetime building my repuation,″ he said.

″I’d like to see one of today’s sports services operators step out and accomplish what I have.

″I’m fit and work out regularly.

″My house is paid for and worth $1.5 million, my daughter’s house is paid for, I have four cars in the driveway — two Mercedeses, an Audi and a Cadillac.

″Everything’s paid for, I have no bills and I have money in the bank.

″And people who know me will tell you I’m not a high player.″

Banker doesn’t have a lengthy list of nice things to say about NFL players — he wonders how many give 100 percent all the time — but showers the colleges with accolades.

″The colleges play hard,″ he said.

Proving that he’ll wager on favorites when he gets ″the feeling,″ Banker touted Rice over Troy State in Friday’s New Orleans Bowl.

The Owls opened at minus 6, but the spread was 4 to 4 1/2 on Wednesday.

″I can’t talk about some bowl games because I’m under contract, but I really like Rice because it’s played a tougher schedule,″ Banker said.

″I know it’s in New Orleans, but not jambalaya, not Rice-A-Roni.

″Just plain Rice.″

To gamble is to risk but there are options to help cut back the risk.

Set your limit

First and foremost important is to remember, gambling is for fun! Do not gamble if you cannot afford to lose. Have a specific amount set aside for gambling and stick to it. Don’t borrow money to gamble and don’t ever go past your set limit.

Take Frequent breaks.

Don’t attempt to play at a casino if you are under stress, depressed or troubled in any way. All distractions can cause you to lose your concentration and obviously result in losses you may not incur otherwise. Bright lights and loud noises are created to the casinos benefit. If you are gambling online, ensure that you are not going to be distracted and if you are, stop play until another time.

Slots Tips

Tip #1. Always play the max coin amount on progressive slots. It is best to play max regardless of whether the slot is progressive or not but how painful would it be to hit a jackpot on less than max bet?

Tip #2. Know the payout schedule before sitting down at a slot machine. Just like in poker, knowledge of the odds and payouts is crucial to developing a good strategy.

Tip #3. If you are not having luck at a particular machine, then move on to another one. Don’t play it all night, hoping for it to finally pay off.

Tip #4. Always ensure your bet registers in the machine prior to pulling the bar or hitting spin, you will not be given the max coin winnings if the machine doesn’t record a max coin bet being placed.

Tip #5. Never leave your machine until you are done playing. There is no worse feeling that someone taking the machine you were playing at because you went for a drink or to use the restroom. Make sure you take care of personal business prior to choosing your slot. There are waitresses for drinks.

Blackjack Tips

Tip #1 The most obvious is to ensure you know the rules of blackjack. It is always a good idea to have a strategy when you play blackjack. All winning systems are based on a basic strategy which consists of statistically speaking, there exists only one best action a player can take for each of the possible hands he can receive versus each possible upcard the dealer may have.

Tip #2 Learn about the house rules of each casino, the better the house rules, the more money you can expect to win in the long run. And yes, house rules do vary between casinos.

Tip #3 Learn the proper way to use your bankroll. There are statistically proven methods to keep control of your balance and the amount of bet you should place based on your total bankroll.

Tip #4Never drink alcohol when you are playing and always leave the game once you start to feel fatigued. You may start to make mistakes that you won’t even notice.

Poker Tips

Tip #1 The best tip for poker playing is to read up on the game play, the variants of the game and ensure you know the rules of the game.

Tip #2 When you first start, it is a good idea to sit out and watch the other players prior to starting your game. Watch how they bet and how much they bet.

Tip #3 As you advance as a player, learn how to bluff. You must know the game well and bluff only when you feel secure that the other players will not call your bluff.

Tip #4 It is also a good idea to try to play against less skillfull opponents. Obviously, you will have a better chance at the game if you have more knowledge and experience.

Tip #5 Most important is what many of us have heard before, ″Know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ″em″. Mistakes are made quite often in poker when players want to stick it out with hands that have no value. That is a guaranteed loss. And stick with the no alcohol while playing rule.

Video Poker Tips

Tip #1 Just as with poker, you must know the game of video poker. There is a wide variant of video poker games, with each having a different set of winning card combinations. It is a good idea to pay attention to whether or not a machine uses one 52-deck of cards or more than one. The more cards there are, the less likely the player will win.

Tip #2 There is no such thing as a loose or tight video poker machine. They do not operate on reels like a slot machine, each card has an equal chance of showing up on any hand.

Tip #3 Always play the maximum number of credits allowed on progressive video poker, if you hit a royal flush, you will want that jackpot.

Tip #4 Until you are a master player, play at the lowest coin denomination amount possible. This will give you more cash to play on and learn as you go.

Tip #5 It can be very helpful to play a handheld video poker game (like you can get at any store with board games), this will also give you experience and a good knowledge of how the games will play.

The most important of all with all games- HAVE FUN!

Three Card Poker is often the busiest game in any casino while the crowd watching will inevitably stand around for hours observing the game! It is a game of high intensity and everybody wants to join in as either a player or a spectator!

The game of three card poker often throws people because of the two types of bonus available. However, you should not be put off as the Pair Plus Bonus and the Ante are very easy to understand.

The largest payout in three card poker is from the Pair Plus. To earn this bonus you must place a bet in the Pair Plus Area and the cards you are dealt must be a pair or higher. You can bet here only before the cards are dealt. You can expect to see the following bonuses:

Pair = one times your bet

Flush = three times your bet

Straight = six times your bet

Three of a Kind = 30 times your bet

Straight Flush = 40 times your bet

The great thing about this game is if you lose, but you have a pair or higher, you still get the bonus! This is one reason many people love this game because you are paid even as a loser.

The Ante bonuses are harder to win because you required a straight or higher to win and it pays out as follows:

Straight = one times your bet

Three of a Kind = four times your bet

Straight Flush = five times your bet

You still get the Ante bonus if you have a straight, three of a kind or a straight flush even if you lose your hand. Additionally, if you bet the pair plus and the ante you win both!

This game is exciting but if you are not catching the cards you need your bankroll will diminish quickly so please bear that in mind. Before placing a bet, decide if you are going to be playing the Pair Plus bonus.

In the present day, everyone is getting in on the poker tournament boom. It's on television, on the Internet, in homes all over the world and probably at your local charity function. But people aren't just playing poker; they're playing a particular structured form of poker: the poker tournament. Those of us who have been playing poker for ten years or more probably don't remember any mention of any kind of "tournament" at their regular Thursday night game. Yet today, it is probably the preferred form of poker and with the growing popularity of televised poker tournaments, the way most new player are learning to play poker. So where did these poker tournaments come from and how did they become so popular?

Poker tournaments as we know them did not exist before 1970. What did exist was something called a "freeze-out." What a freeze-out meant was that the players, often just two, referred to as a "heads-up freeze-out," would come to the table with a prescribed amount of money, no more, no less and they would play, with scheduled breaks if necessary, until one player had all the money.

In 1970 Benny Binion, owner of Binion's Horseshoe Casino, hosted a heads-up marathon between two famous poker players, Nick "The Greek" Dandalos and Johnny Moss. Following the popularity of this event, Binion invited the best poker players in the world to compete in a series of poker games, with the group voting for the champion at the end. Johnny Moss was selected that year. The following year, a freeze-out was used to determine the champion (Moss again). This freeze-out became what is now known as the main event of the World Series of Poker. The tournament format proved popular and other Poker tournaments began to crop up, starting with Amarillo's "Super Bowl of Poker" in 1979 and expanding from there.

The first World Series of Poker No Limit Hold 'em championship event in 1971 had six players. In 2005, The Championship event had a whopping 5600 players! In 1971, the $10,000 buy-in main event of the World Series was the only poker tournament of its kind; today, multiple 10,000 dollar events can be found every month. So what happened? A number of events contributed to the massive boom poker tournaments are now experiencing.

The first big innovation was the decision in 1978 to structure the tournament payout so that the tournament was no longer winner-take-all. It's unlikely 5600 or even 56 people would be willing to put up $10,000 dollars if they knew only one person was going to walk away with any money. Today's tournaments are usually structured for multiple payouts, so that about ten percent of the players get some money, 34-37 percent goes to the winner and a rapidly decreasing percentage gets distributed to each successive player.

The next and probably most important contribution to the history of tournament poker is the introduction of the "satellite" tournament. While Eric Drache was running the World Series of Poker for the Binion family in the 1970s, he noticed a number of players in side games who did not appear willing or able to put up $10,000 for the main event, playing in a game where there was $10,000 on the table among them. Drache suggested they play a freeze-out for the whole thing, with the winner playing in the main event. Thus the satellite tournament was born. In a satellite tournament, a group of players put up a certain amount, about ten percent of the entry fee to a larger tournament and play a freeze-out, with the winner then having the money to play in the larger tournament.

Players can also try super-satellites, multiple table tournaments which pay one seat for every ten players, or however many players it takes to make up one entry fee. (e.g. in a $200 super satellite for a $10,000 tournament, the tournament organizers would award one seat to the main event for every 50 players; $200 multiplied by 50 players equals $10,000). This system allows ordinary people, who may not have $10,000 to risk on a poker tournament, a chance to take a shot at the pros for a reasonable price. Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 World Series Champion, won his buy-in through online satellites starting with only $40.

Moneymaker's feat brings us to the final factors contributing to the growth of tournaments; online poker and televised poker. For most of poker's history, televised poker was very difficult to watch. Since there was no way to know what cards each player held, viewers could not speculate on the play of those at the table and lost interest quickly. With the advent of hole-card cameras and other technology which showed viewers exactly what cards each player held, televised poker became a phenomenon, just in time for Chris Moneymaker to complete an improbable run to victory at the World Series, taking advantage of online poker satellites, another relatively new innovation allowing anyone, anywhere in the world an opportunity to win a seat in a big poker tournament. Chris's win showed that not only could anyone win a seat at the World Championship, anyone could actually win the tournament and the rest is history.

Will poker tournaments continue to grow? With online, home and casino tournaments of every buy-in imaginable plentiful and accessible, there's no reason to believe the tournament craze will not continue well into the 21st century. And whether you're a casual player or a budding pro waiting to bloom, the right tournament is definitely out there for you. So what are you waiting for?

Internet Texas Holdem poker gives players the chance to play around the clock. It provides an option of practicing and learning the game online 24/7. For beginners needing practice and for those wanting to improve their poker skills this is a great opportunity.

In online poker rooms one can play against actual people with actual money. All over the world, millions of people play poker on the web. There are hundreds of different online tournaments and games going on at any given moment. The online payment systems are used to buy chips and place wagers. One can play for very small stakes such as $0.01, or go in for larger stakes of $100.

But there is a dual viewpoint on all of this. Some poker players say that they find online poker just does not give them the same thrill as home games or playing in a casino. The obvious difference is that you are not sitting right across from your opponents. You miss the chance to watch your opponents’ reactions and to read their mind and body language. In traditional poker, you get to observe your opponent’s playing style, because every move your opponent makes could be useful to you. In the online game one can only watch and analyze the speed at which an opponent plays. You don’t see the player in person.

But there has been a spectacular growth in the number of online poker players in the last few years. Millions of people all over the world now participate in online poker tournaments and games. With Internet poker growing more popular each day, this new form of poker is here to stay.

If you want to play a game that is easy to learn, is lots of fun, and has great odds, then play Baccarat.

Before we examine some winning strategies and tips, let’s look at one strategy that definitely does not work. I know it doesn’t work because I’ve tried it for myself (and I’ve lost a lot of money in the process).

Studying patterns

Studying patterns does not work in Baccarat. It also doesn’t work in Roulette, Sic Bo, or any other casino game. You simply cannot study probability because it is unpredictable.

However, there is still hope for those who want to win. In this article, we will be examining some of the strategies designed to help you play more professionally.

4 Simple ways to win when playing Baccarat

1) Almost always bet on the Banker! It has the best odds. Occasionally, you may want to bet on the player, and this is fine. However, almost never bet on the tie because the odds are very low!

2) Set a budget. Never chase losses, especially when you can’t afford to lose that money.

3) Have fun. If you get nervous, restless, or bored, you will start betting too much, and you will start losing.

4) Bet what you can afford to lose. If you don’t care about losing, you have a much better chance of winning. The only times I ever win are when I don’t care about losing!

Use the above for tips and you will win a lot more consistently at Baccarat. Don’t waste your money on Baccarat systems because Baccarat is a game of chance!
