Cambodia Casinos
February 14th, 2021 by Anastasia

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights many luxuries aside from the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
