Cambodia Gambling Halls
February 20th, 2021 by Anastasia

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts aside from the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
